LANEGAN: NEW ALBUM IMMINENT

SCREAMING TREES frontman MARK LANEGAN has been in Los Angeles working on the follow up to his much acclaimed 1999 solo album 'I'll Take Care of You'. Lanegan has been collaborating on various tracks with former Guns'n'Roses bass player Duff McKagan. The new album, said to comprise of all original songs, should be released on Beggars Banquet some time this year.

In the meantime, Lanegan's band the Screaming Trees, played their first shows in 18 months at the Viper Room in Los Angeles last week. The showcases, set up in the quest to land the band a new record deal, gave the Screaming Trees the opportunity to debut a number of new songs - 'Crawl Space', 'Revelator' & 'Anita Grey'. The shows also marked the addition of second guitarist Josh Homme (of Queens Of The Stone Age) to the line up of the band.

The crowd at the Viper Room for the shows included members of Smashmouth and The Stone Temple Pilots, and Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson.
