8 September, 2004- Abart Music Club, Zurich,
Switzerland
review by Emma
The concert was excellent, bar certain moronic
members of the audience. Although I have listened to - and appreciated
- Mark Lanegan's music for many years, it was actually the first time
I saw him perform live!
I was awestruck by the entire band. Lanegan's voice was even more nuanced
and magnificent than I had expected it to be.
The guitarist is bloody brilliant!!
The Abart Club in Zurich has hosted a number of great groups.
However, it's a difficult venue, due to low roofing and cramped space.
The band was extremely laid back under the circumstances.
I was unfortunate location-wise; I was wedged between snogging crusties,
animated Jazz-dancers and a silly cow who kept on babbling away to her
boyfriend at the top of her voice during songs like A Hundred Days.
At the end of the gig I was ready to rip her hair out.
Overall it was wonderful, if I had the time and finances I would definitely
see Mark and the Band in concert as often as possible !
